Floating – for Ditan Light Show

This work comes from reflection on lanterns. The thousands of lanterns hanging on the trees on Gui Jie makes me think how it might look like if those lanterns could be floating in the air on their own. Tensegrity is a type of structure where, with poles and steel wires assembled in a particular way, it is stablized without those poles touching each other. A Tensegrity Lantern group looks as if dozens of lanterns are floating. It draws spectators as it mysteriously sparkles.

As the Beijing Branch of HHDesign,HHD_FUN is a design and research studio，with interests in bringing knowledge from various fields outside of architecture and experimenting these means into the design of architecture. The computational techniques, geometric principles and algorithms are one portion of their approaches as the means in architecture generation.

Wang Zhenfei, Principal of HHD_FUN , graduated with an advanced master of architecture from Berlage Institute in 2007.
In 2001, he gained his Bachelor of Architecture in Tianjin University, China.
His working experience includes UNstudio in Amsterdam (2007-2008) and HHDesign (2001-2005)

Wang Luming, Principal of HHD_FUN, graduated with an advanced master of architecture from Berlage Institute in 2007.
In 2003, she gained her Bachelor of Architecture in Tianjin University, China.
Her working experience includes UNstudio in Amsterdam (2007-2008) and HHDesign (2003-2005)

Jobs

Architect: 3 years+ of working experience, strong design skills or with construction experience.

Assistant Architect: Experienced with Rhino,Grasshopper. Scripting, or DP is a plus.

Internships: Strong software skill, Minimium 6 months period of time.
